Overview

Holding a family together when it seems the world is falling apart is the challenge faced by parents of today's teens. Their children face a level of evil in their everyday world that their parents can't imagine, don't understand and often misjudge.

When the cultural divide threatens to invade a family it is easy for parents to feel lost and alone, and without a plan to survive. Parents don't know to intervene effectively when their teen spins out of control.

Fortunately, teen-expert Mark Gregston understands the affects of today's confusing culture on teens and offers the right kind of help in his newest book, Parenting Teens in a Confusing Culture.

Mark answers 32 tough questions asked by parents of teenagers, with his usual wit and the biblical wisdom of the ages. His ongoing ministry to teens and their families spans more than thirty years and when he writes about how to address problems with teens, he knows what he's talking about.

Parenting Teens in a Confusing Culture helps parents better understand the forces behind the issues their teens face, like

-teenage drinking

-experimenting with drugs

-problems at school

-gender identity and same sex relationships

-social abuse

-immaturity

-rebellion

-entitlement

-teenage anger

-Internet influences

-Disobedience, disrespect, dishonesty

There is no better resource for Christian parents trying to successfully navigate today's cultural minefields than Parenting Teens in a Confusing Culture. The compassionate wisdom found in this book makes it a must-read for every parent, grandparent, counselor or those involved with directing a teen or pre-teen's path through this confusing world.

Meet the Author

Teenagers today are increasingly falling victim to the worst elements of our culture and society. According to Gregston, "We have a generation of kids in their teen years who are confused and disillusioned. They've lost their innocence and they've lost what should be carefree days of adolescence. And kids from good Christian families are falling victim just a much as kids from non-religious families."

Mark Gregston began helping teens and their parents 30 years ago, when he was an area leader for Young Life. He and his wife Jan opened up their home to work one-on-one with live-in teens who were struggling through crisis family problems.

In 1989, Mark and his wife Jan started Heartlight Ministries, a residential counseling center for troubled teenagers, located in East Texas. Over the years, Heartlight has helped several thousand teens get to the other side of their problems after coming to the 100-acre campus to be counseled and mentored for 9-12 months.

Mark and Jan also share their lives through retreats, speaking engagements, and counseling of parents and teens. Mark travels most weekends speaking or leading the Dealing with Today's Teens Seminars in cities across the nation. His hope is to help others before they need a type of program like Heartlight for their child.

Mark is also the writer of a popular blog on parenting, markgregston.com, and is a guest author for the parenting sections of Crosswalk.com and Christianity.com. The Heartlight Residential Counseling Center for troubled teens is recommended by Focus on the Family's Troubled With website.

Mark is the co-host of the radio program Parenting Today's Teens, heard all over the U.S. Mark has also written a number of book and booklets addressing issues of parenting
