Superb tool to have in the car. The most comprehensive information I have seen and easy to read while at stoplights and driving around the city. A MUST HAVE.
What a great find! I found this book on the counter at checkout and am thrilled. Format is easy to read 'especially while in the car' and the maps are great going so far as to give specific garage entrance directions 'heading east on 1st, south side of street'. Book fits in the glove compartment for quick reference. I recently met a friend for dinner - she spent $27 on parking and I spent only $11 because I knew about an evening special from the guide. We both parked 1 block away from our destination. Guide offers extra info - entrance location, evening/early bird specials and garage specific info 'steep drive, height restrictoins, etc'.
I think it's amazing to have all of this information in one place. There are so many commuters who would find this guide invaluable!
Tohn's Park It! NYC helps those of us who come into the city for shopping, for events, and to visit friends. The paperback divides the city into easy-to-access areas so that one can target a couple of parking garages before arrival. It's a great gift for those new to the city OR for those in the city who need to give advice to clients or friends driving in. I have given a number of these handy books for gifts. Certainly worth the price!
I have this book in my glove compartment so it is handy at all times. I like the color coordination of the book and its sections of the city by color. It is easy to use, I like the fact that all the garages have phone numbers listed so I can call them ahead of time. Plus, when friends and family come to town, I can tell them exactly where to park - and then give them a copy as a welcome to NYC present!
This guide is great for anyone driving in from outside NYC--because the city is frankly hard to navigate! There are sections 'i.e. east village' where I have driven in circles searching for a garage, and finally found one only to wonder whether the rate was reasonable or not. I have done MUCH better after using this guide! My mom needed to find a place to park around Gramercy Park, and borrowed the guide. She ended up saving about $12 and a lot of hassle. I highly recommend this and hope there will soon be companion versions for more cities. Also a nice feature: the guide points out the most well-lit and cleanest garages.
I purchased this book but found it very difficult to use. I used it on three occasions, and all three times the book's rates were wrong. It was also very difficult to compare the parking rates due to the poor layout. On my third use, I tried to call the parking lot in advance to confirm the rate, but the listed phone number was incorrect.
