    more from this reviewer

    Thoroughly delightful

Makes me think of a story like Arsenic and Old Lace. Just good old fashioned fun to read and full of characters you can't help but like.

    very enjoyable

I loved this book! It was the first book I ordered for my Nook and I got several ideas about other books to read, the next one was The Haunted Bookshop which goes with this one . I love the old classics and I am not sure how I have managed to miss this one. When books have been around as long as these have there must be some value to what they have to say. Hope there are others that will enjoy it as well

    Another great book about books

This is a cute little book. It can probably be read over a weekend. The main character in the story, Helen, has a brother who is a successful novelist who writes about farm life and its inhabitants. Helen has baked 6,000 loaves of bread in the past 15 years! When a salesman comes to their farm and wants to sell Parnassus (a traveling bookstore/van with a horse), Helen gets mad that her brother will go off yet again to have adventures which he will write a book about. Consequently, leaving her to tend the farm and all chores. Instead, Helen buys Parnassus off the man to spite her brother but then has an adventure of her own! The sequal is 'Haunted Bookshop.'
