Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Tico Tango had a yellow mango, but all of his other friends had bright and tasty fruit that Tico thought he should have as well. So he took their fruit. Except that he couldn't carry all of the fruit and so dropped it and ended up with no fruit while his friends shared the fruit that he had stolen. Tico understood that it wasn't right to steal his friends' fruit, and they agreed to forgive him and to share the mango with him if he would teach them how to tango. Tico's story about sharing and not taking things that don't belong to you is a simple cautionary tale, but the rhymes and repetitions through the story are a delight to read. Each page repeats what appeared on the previous page and adds a new couplet illustrating what happened next. The text uses uncomplicated descriptive words that, along with colorful illustrations, bring this rhyming story to life. 2004, Barefoot Books, Ages 3 to 6.
