Partner in Revolution: Abigail Adams

Partner in Revolution: Abigail Adams

by Clare Hodgson Meeker

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Judy Silverman
Clare Hodgson Meeker's Partner in Revolution is both biography and history. Its illustrations are contemporary watercolors of scenery, photographs of monuments, furniture and rooms, contemporary cartoons, and simply wonderful portraits of the people portrayed in the book. The story of the American Revolution is familiar to all, but we're not usually told of the opinions of the participants' families. Abigail Adams was the wife of one president and the mother of another. She was an unusual woman for any time, and for the eighteenth century was truly astounding. Her story makes fascinating reading. Meeker's command of language is wonderful, and her use of Abigail's own words fits beautifully. We truly get an idea of what her life was like in one of the most trying times of American history.
