This book was recommended to me by a fellow colleague who recently passed her critical care certification.Will be extremely useful in studying for my critical care certification and useful as a constant resource in my field of nursing. Definitely a valuable investment. The CD included is also an added bonus!

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. I was planning on buying this book and practicing with the "1000 online questions" Only to learn it is still April with no questions yet available on the EVOLVE website.. After emailing the author directly stating that it was disappointing, she replied in an unprofessional manner and claimed it was not her fault. DON"T BUY.

I have to say that I am very disappointed with this purchase! After reading all of the blogs and information related to this book I thought one that I was getting a book and a CD rom, must places say that the book isn't as helpful as the actual questions themselves. I was so excited to get the book and start practicing the question. I very soon realized that there is no CD with the book and that all the questions are online. I had a very hard time with the website to get the question to only find out that the question are not on the website currently, that there was a delay from the book being released and the questions being posted. I had planned on only a brief study time with these questions as I need to complete the test in order to apply to a masters program. I called the company and they did send me PDFs of the questions but they are just on a word document format and are not interactive or able to be put in quiz or exam format as the description explains. I was really hoping to take "practice" exams similar to the real one that everyone claims this book offers to see how prepared and where my weaknesses are yet I did not get this at all. I should have bought the previous addition! Not happy!

This product claims to give you 1,000 additional questions online which is not true. The questions won't become available until April or May so if you plan on taking your test anytime soon, buy a different book. I am very upset with my purchase and thought that I was getting questions that were going to prepare me, but it turns out I didn't and now I'm stuck with a book that I'm not even going to use.

I waited for months for the release of the latest edition. Be advised that online testing resources are not available until March, or more likely April of 2013. Prior edition, I already own, had CD Rom for exam questions, which was incompatible with MAC. Thus I waited. The book itself is excellent but the testing is the feedback I need.

This comprehensive and detailed study manual is geared to the critical care nurse preparing for the Critical Care Certification Examination for Registered Nurses (CCRN). The testing section at the end of each chapter is unique due to the variety of exercises it offers, such as crossword puzzles, fill-in charts, and practice multiple choice questions. The purpose is to offer a complete, focused review intended for registered nurses planning to take the AACN Certification Exam for Certified Critical Care Practice. The book has thoroughly met the author's objectives. This book is clearly designed for registered nurses who have practiced or are currently practicing within a critical care environment, as it should be. However, the author does not state basic qualifications nurses should possess before studying for this exam. This may be helpful to ensure the consumer has a general understanding of the material presented. The author of this book appears to be a credible authority. This study guide offers a variety of features. The illustrations are thorough yet simplistic, although use of different colors might better enhance detailed diagrams. The table of contents could be much more detailed due to the fact that each section, especially CV, is a book in and of itself. The tables are somewhat of a strain to read due to their small font and lack of titles in large, bold font. The index and references are well organized and very helpful.
