Cameron Dean is a wonderfully talented author. I was held captive by the characters and the story itself.
The connection between Candace and Ash is totally awesome. That type of erotic romance is sinful. I fell in love with Ash! His character is so moving that it is scarey. His love for Candace is eternal, and he proves it time and time again. It doesn't matter how many times Candace tells him to leave, he still loves her so much he is willing to do anything just to make sure she is safe. Could he possibly kill another of his kind?
The last time Ash bit Candace something happened to her; she now can tell between a human and a Vampire; which gives her some insight into the vampire world.
Since Candace is working as security Scheherazade 'Sher'; one of her jobs is to watch over Temptation McCoy (A performer/singer). While doing her job, Candace is constantely getting strange cold feelings when she is near Tempation and her entourage. Normally that means one thing "Vampire". Ash gave her this extra ability what that all powerful bite in the elevator. Vampires have been coming up dead (Decapitated) at ths club called Lipstik, and no one knows why. Could this have something to do with Tempation McCoy and her entourage? This is the mission for Candace...she needs to find out what is happening and stop it!
Meanwhile Ash is back and wants Candace back in his arms. He wants Candace to become like him. He shows Candace what he is and it truely scares her; however the feelings for Ash are intense. What will happen to Candace? Will she leave Ash or finally give in to her desire to be with the love of her life.
So much happens in this book.....you just have to read it. You definately will not be dissapointed. 5 stars to Cameron Dean! Awesome job! I truely can't wait to read more!

This book was a pleasant surprise. It's not terribly deep but it flows nicely from chapter to chapter so I never got bored or bogged down my too much irrelevant detail, as some stories do. I kind of compared this story to the Laurell K. Hamilton 'Anita Blake' series where an tough-but-attractive mortal female faces off against the supernatural world on a daily (or nightly) basis. Whereas Hamilton's Anita Blake is painted as a carbon copy of the author herself (or who she would imagine herself to be), Dean's Candace Steele is interesting but pleasantly flawed in a way I, as a reader, could kind of relate to. Candace has a vampire hottie and sexy mortal clamoring for her attention, but that's about it. I suppose that's what turned me off of the later L.K. Hamilton 'Blake' series is that it seemed every gorgeous stud within a 500 mile radius was panting after Anita and it kind of went from a great tale about a chick going one-on-one with the netherworld to a less than appealing soft porn type read where the plot sort of got lost. This book is decent and I will be checking out the next ones in the series...I hope they stay true to format. Check this one out...it's not Shakespeare but it's a good read!

Sadly, I started this series by reading the 3rd book of the Candace Steele trilogy, which left me craving for more! So I backed up and read the first two books in order.... The read is easy, the characters are memorable, the plot has me hooked! I want more of Candace Steele, but I can't find anything on-line about the author. Cameron Dean, if you're out there, you need a website dedicated to you and your work. Fans want to know, will there be more of Candace Steele? I think I'm going to have to go back and re-read these books, the romance, if that's what you call it, between Ash and Candace is every woman's dream come true....a love so deep it's eternal! Just don't call her Candy!

Ashford 'Ash' Donahue the Third is one of the more powerful vampires around today. He is also extremely handsome. A year and a half ago in San Francisco, Candace Steele thought they would be together forever. Instead she would have bled to death had Bibi Schwartz, now her best friend, not saved her. The incident left Candace with the ability to sense vampires, something that even Ash does not know. All Candace's other senses have sharpened too however, Candace is still human, no thanks to Ash. ............... Now Candace lives in Las Vegas, where due to tourism, faces of the public change constantly. This gives vampires fresh blood. It also makes it the perfect place for Candace to hunt and stake vampires. Candace works security at the casino-hotel Scheherazade 'Sher'. Her boss, Al Manelli, and Bibi (who is still with Candace and now a coworker) are the only two who know the truth about what happened to Candace and about her bat sense talent. ................... Popular singing sensation, Temptation McCoy comes to the Sher for a performance and Candace is assigned security detail. After barely meeting Temptation, Candace's bat sense goes off. Someone in the singer's entourage is a vampire, a powerful one. To make matters worse, Ash suddenly appears in Las Vegas, vowing to draw Candace back into his arms and make her his for eternity. Candace still desires Ash. Even though she continues to resist Ash, Candace becomes overwhelmed and lets down her guard for just a moment. It is a move that could cost Candace her life. .................. ***** I found this to have a fabulous plot line however, the flashbacks to when Candace and Ash met are annoying. I feel as though the story would have been better had I been able to watch as the events happened, perhaps as the prologue. The way the story is set up gave me the feeling that I had walked in during the middle of a movie. I felt as though I was floundering until enough flashbacks filled me in to what happened and why. Other than that, I do not think this novel could possibly have been better. I could easily understand why Ash bit Candace. I could also empathize with Candace not wanting to be undead or a drone. ............... Fans of the Southern Vampire series will love this trilogy even more than Sookie's tales ... and that is saying something! Best news is that the author will not keep me drowning in suspense. The second book ('Luscious Craving') comes out in December 2006. The third book ('Eternal Hunger') comes out in January 2007 respectively. Author Cameron Dean has made a new fan in me! Stellar reading! *****

As time passed, she realizes their relationship is very odd as they never see each other during daylight. She decides to surprise her lover so she goes to his office to offer him a picnic lunch, but is turned away to her chagrin. That night she confronts Ash he leaves her, but soon returns to explain everything. Ash stuns her with his revelation that he is a vampire.--------------- Soon afterward during love making, he loses control and bites her neck. Candace nearly dies from blood loss, but recovers. She wears a tattoo cross to cover her scar and moves to Las Vegas where she joins the security team at the Star Hotel. One side benefit from Ash¿s bite is that Candace can uncover vampires, which enables her to kill those who drink human blood.--------------- Candace is a bodyguard to singer Temptatione McCoy, but her senses tell her that Dru, the entertainer¿s manager, is a human-blood drinking vampire. Ash suddenly arrives wanting time with her. However, though she desires him, a vampire¿s wife is not the life for her. When Candace¿s life is endangered, Ash tries to keep her safe in the hopes they will have a chance to be together forever.------------------ Most paranormal romances focus on the love story line, but THE PASSIONATE THIRST centers more on the action. This enables the audience to understand the heroine¿s ethics as a vampire slayer loving a vampire but changing over is repugnant to her even though Ash is her soulmate. The story line is fast-paced as Candace kicks butt, but it is her human morality that makes this tale several bites above the norm. Cameron Dean is a wonderful storyteller who will appeal to readers of many genres.----------------- Harriet Klausner
