Overview

This is a five star historical romance (rated by Publishers’ Weekly, Romantic Times and Amazon readers) from an award winning romance writer.
This story is:
1. Thrilling and suspenseful from the beginning to the end. While by day Joy Claret is the beautiful charge of socially prominent Dr. Joshua Rubens, by night she, disguised as a teenage boy, works on the Underground Railroad to free slaves. The escape plan is perfectly executed until the moment Ram Barrington appears these pages. Known among the elite English aristocracy as the iconoclastic Lord Ramsey Barrington the Third, the ruggedly handsome captain soon becomes dangerously entangled in the beautiful young lady’s unconventional life. The stakes are high and scene after scene explodes with desire and page turning excitement.
2. Hot, sexy, (very!); full of erotic scenes that will keep you turning the pages. Two fierce spirits battling an overwhelming passion, a desire that threatens to destroy or save them both. Ram tries desperately to resist the one hundred or so pounds of trouble, while Joy’s innocence teases and tempts him into madness, until one night of deception Joy’s innocence is presented in a different light…
3. Full of finely drawn characters, especially Lord Barrington and Joy Claret. Ram is a larger than life hero: intelligent, witty, even brilliant, armed with a frighteningly strong personality, a vast fortune and an ambition to match, he is the most dangerous adversary in the world, especially for Joy Claret. Their passion eventually becomes love, but one prohibited by the dark fate and mystery woven into Ram’s life history.
4. Rich with interesting, even fascinating historical detail about Louisiana’s history and England’s regency aristocracy.
5. Always engaging; full of unexpected twists and turns, and a guaranteed satisfying (extremely!) even great ending.

“The sexiest writing in romance!” Lisa Silver

This is one of those romances that I have remembered the details from more than 10 years ago. Excellent writer, who has me laughing throughout the book, as well as brushing away tears once or twice. For all you historic romantics....you can't get much better than this!

Since I read this book a while ago I have gone on to read a good majority of the "classics." I can honestly say that this little book with its wonderful characters and story plot have stayed with me for all of these years. I re-read the book this week and treasured each page. I did not want the book to end. Beware! If you decide to read this book the characters will remain with you for years. I wish Jennifer Horsman would write a sequel to Passion's Joy! Thank You so much for writing this story.

I think it's great that so many of the other reviewers of "Passion's Joy" read it 10+ years ago and still feel so strongly about it. I'm in that catagory. I read it for the first time when I was 12. I'm 30 now, and I've probably read it 20 more times. I own 3 copies of it. I don't read a whole lot of romance nowadays. But "Passion's Joy" is really just a wonderful little novel. Beautiful characters!

I read this book over 10 years ago and have not been able to get it out of my head. I still remember the characters vividly! Its a must read for any romance fan! I loved it!

This was without a doubt the best romance novel I have read! The characters really come alive and that is what makes the story so succesful. Never have I read a book in which the characters can make you smile with them like the characters in this book can!

Meet the Author

I was born and raised in San Francisco, California. I moved south to finish my college degree at the University of California at Irvine. Here I fell instantly and madly in love with one of my professors, who I finally convinced to marry me. While most of my life force was sucked up by a steady stream of kids, dogs and cats, I managed to write a few books.

I currently live in Laguna Beach, California. Things I love: life, the ocean, good books, Ashtanga yoga, redwood forests, most people, all animals, long walks and stormy nights. In addition to historical romance novels, I write children's novels and non-fiction, plays and screenplays.

Now, about e-publishing: I am a voracious reader,(favorite authors: Toni Morrison, JM Coetzee, David Mitchell, Joyce Carol Oates and Margaret Atwood) and between my friends and I, we have sony readers, kindles, nooks, and quite a few Ipads. Ebooks are an amazing development in the ancient art of reading and writing. I wanted to be a part of it. Fortunately, historical romances never go out of date or fashion.
