Overview

Passport is New York's only professionally written, pocket-size guide to restaurants. Former AOL Dining providers Peter & Amy Meltzer rate more than 500 Manhattan restaurants (carefully selected by neighborhood, price point and type of cuisine) on a discerning, five-star system. They provide detailed menu and interior descriptions, service assessments and wine list evaluations.

Laid out alphabetically by neighborhood (with six pages of maps), Passport further organizes its listings by cuisine type and specific occasion to help you choose the right restaurant every time. You'll find a wide range of destinations ranging from Corporate Playgrounds, to Rooms with a View, to Where to Fall in Love.

This Passport takes you there. It's not the yellow pages; just the perfect little black book.

For two years prior to producing this edition of Passport to New York Restaurants, Peter and Amy Meltzer were AOL's dining providers on Digital City New York. They continue to produce a weekly online column on AOL called Passport Recipe File, featuring standout recipes from top Manhattan chefs.

Peter Meltzer is publisher and co-author of Passport, now in its 14th edition. He is a contributing authority to Food Arts magazine, and writes a bi-weekly column for Wine Spectator on wine auctions and wine collectibles. He has appeared on television and in a variety of national publications on the subject of food, wine and restaurants.

Amy Meltzer is Passport's executive editor and co-author. She surveys the city's ever-evolving restaurant scene to achieve a representative balance of neighborhoods, price points and diverse types of cuisine. With a background in design, Amy is president of Treasured Tabletops, Inc., a unique service that focuses on the dining table. She creates tablescapes for private clients, designs tabletop accessories and consults on collecting. For several years, she was the tabletop editor for Food Arts magazine.
