This award winning series has been specifically designed for babies. A great introduction to books through well-known nursery rhymes and interactive text. Singing songs and rhymes is the perfect way to bond with your baby and share quality time. It also aids language development by introducing them to the natural sounds and patterns of speech. Kubler presents each nursery rhyme simply and successfully. She does not adorn the verse or change it from the original, rather these are modern versions of the classics.
Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
It takes two to play this game as demonstrated by the toddlers on the cover. The rhyme is simple and it is the children in their various outfits that make it fun. There is a trio of bakers all playing with colorful dough. They create a cake and put a "B" on top and then head for an oven where the cake is supposed to bake. The final spread shows toddlers enjoying a delicious looking cake. The illustrations offer a variety of ethnicities and will give little ones plenty to look at and name. On the back cover there is music to accompany the text which is really a nursery rhyme. Part of the "Baby Board Books" series. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
School Library Journal
PreS—These board books are appealing introductions to nursery rhymes. Most pages or spreads have just one line of text, allowing the soft, lively watercolors to take center stage. The rhymes stay true to the originals. One of the best aspects of the illustrations is that many different babies and toddlers are represented, including children with disabilities. In Hop a Little, one child wears an epilepsy helmet; in Humpty Dumpty, an eye patch; and Pat-a-Cake shows a child with a hearing aid. Great additions for sharing one-on-one or in small storytimes.—Lora Van Marel, Orland Park Public Library, IL
