Meet the Author

Russell Kirkpatrick's love of literature and a chance encounter with fantasy novels as a teenager opened up a vast number of possibilities to him. The idea that he could marry storytelling and mapmaking (his other passion) into one project grabbed him and wouldn't let go. He lives in New Zealand with his wife and two children. more from this reviewer

    A satisfying read

The thing i love most about the books by Kirkpatrick are the maps.I can look at his maps all day. they are very detailed and simple to understand. I can't imagine reading a book without a map, even though i read Jim Butchers Codex Alera series,Now that could have used a map. Im spendin time on this topic because when a book has a detailed map, I believe the people. places. things and not to mention the story, Becomes more REAL and Believeable....They story progresses nicely, without frequent jumps to other places. It draws you in from page one. you care about the characters. This is just a very homely book, A book you can sit by the fire and read all night. Its fun and satisfying....Read the fires of heaven trilogy first, You must in order to understand the broken man series....Hope this helps and God Bless
