A Greek vengeance legend set in space. A retired "drop commando" goes on a rip after her family is killed on a remote colony planet by pirates. All the good stuff is here. Tech, politics, psychology...I only wish there had been more information about the drop commandos in general. But a non-stop read nonetheless.

I was a fan of David Weber's from the moment I picked up the On Basilisk Station, the first in the Honor Harrington Series. I loved his writing and was hooked in the first chapter. I started the series but when the local bookstore didn;t have Honor #7, I picked up 'Path of the Fury' to read while I waited for the local B&N to get the book. It started off slow, but I was still hooked. The imagery, and the detailed descriptions of scenery and emotions had me so sucked in, I felt like I knew these characters in real life....and many of them would probably end up being friends of mine, if they were real. Path of the Fury is about Captain Alecia DeVries who comes home to find her family brutally murdered. Going into a blind rage, she kills 25 of the men responsible before finally collapsing from her own wounds that would be fatal to a normal person. But, Alecia is far from normal...and the book only gets more interesting from that point (and that all happens in the first chapter!!) If you love sci-fi,this book is a must read.

This is the book that I go back to when I'm really down. Granted, it's a space horse-opera, but if I wanted ideas/guidance on life, I wouldn't be reading sci-fi in the first place. I personally like Weber's development of character (read the 'Honor' series for some REAL development) in this story. You can feel the change in Alicia throughout the book and the crowning moment is when Tannis says, 'At least it won't be a stranger.' That's the crux.
