The United States has descended into Civil War.
The storm was rising for some time, a Resistance in the hearts of American Patriots to the strangulation of liberty by creeping authoritarianism.
The scene was set. It just took a little push. A terrorist attack on the United States leads to war with Iran, followed by collapse, as the economy goes over the cliff.
The final blow is a widespread opportunistic Chinese cyber attack, taking down the North American Power Grid.
From the ashes, the Regime emerges. Liberty is dead.
What remains of the United States of America is polarized.
The Resistance Rises.
Jack Berenger is a former Army Ranger Captain, living in northern Virginia with his family. Following the collapse, they fall foul of Regime violence and evacuate to the farm of an old Army friend. Jack is recruited into the resistance, to train the fledgling forces in the Shenandoah Valley.
The fight begins.
Live Hard, Die Free.

American Preppers Network - Stephanie Dayle
Patriot Dawn is the new highly acclaimed book by Max Velocity. The story is set in what could be a near future United States of America post terrorist attack. This story walks a very thin line between fiction and reality as it revolves around a family who has to fight their way to safety, then finds themselves helping a group of patriots to build a resistance for what is now a second civil war. Most of the heavy decisions land upon the main character of Jack, a father, husband, and friend of...

There are some writers whose fingers are on the pulse of what is happening in the world. What they write can at times seem like a prediction, a glimpse of things to come, especially when it rides that razor thin line between entertainment and reality. Turn on any news channel, pick up the evening paper, or peruse the plethora of internet sites that deal with current events and you will wonder if Patriot Dawn is actually fiction or not.
The story revolves around a massive terrorist attack....

I read the entire book in two days. I couldn't put it down! Max did a great job bringing his other survival tactics to life in this book!

'Patriot Dawn: The Resistance Rises' is currently being uploaded and should shortly be available on the Nook. It turns out to be an author responsibility and not something that B&N pick up for the Nook by themselves.
Please refrain from the negative reviews due to availability on Nook, and leave reviews based on the quality of the book once you are able to read it on the Nook. Much appreciated. Thanks!

Overall I liked this book, but there are some flaws. First the writing style needs some work. The writing is too technical in some parts. In other parts he uses slang and other jargon that is not common and he doesn’t always clarify what it means so the reading gets clunky. This book is not as smooth reading as most of the better mainstream writers. Second, although the story and plot are good there is not enough character development or dialogue to really capture the reader. It’s interesting, even exciting in a lot of parts, but honestly the characters are thin. Not that they are unbelievable just that he hasn’t taken the time to really develop and flesh them out. Lastly, I think at $8.99 the book is too expensive for how short it is, and it ends very abruptly and leaves the reader hanging.

Book was entertaining, but a little too detailed in some of the combat tactics description. I am sure it would make perfect sense to a infantry veteran but was confusing at times and a bit over detailed, although from my small experiences fairly accurate. I understand that Max Velocity intentionally does his to teach combat tactics, but it takes away from the story at times. Still, the book was enjoyable and I would probably read other works of Velocity.

The tactical writing is perfect if not a little over detailed for the lay person. Overall a great book!
