Overview

A nation in crisis. A president of division. A deadlocked Congress. The United States is on the brink of civil war—again. Only a courageous federal whistle blower, an ordinary Texan and a governor who won't tolerate the shredding of the Constitution can thwart an evil conspiracy by the federal government.

President Tyrell Johnson, the first fully black president, is riding a renewed wave of popularity as he runs for his second term. He wins re-election, based largely on an "October Surprise." An assassination attempt on Johnson creates the perfect scapegoat—the Tea Party—through a deceit so well disguised that it comes dangerously close to succeeding.

But, like patriots before them, some won't stand for it. Some will become Patriots of Treason!

Phenomenally, written book. Fantastic read. Everyone should read this book. Author really knows how to keep the reader interested. This skillfully crafted novel contains history, mystery, intrigue, and humor and in a neat package that is not just entertaining but challenges your mind. Definitely focuses on controversial topics worth discussing.

Excellent read! Could not put it down. Story line is fictional, but provides enough real occurrences and basis in current political decisions that it does not seem out of the realm of possibility. All characters are made up but very much based on their real life counterparts with similar mannerisms and beliefs. No topic is sacred as Roberts takes swings at all of them and I recommend to all my politically active friends.

This is a great debut novel. David has done a great job at crafting a story that sucks the reader right in, and then you don't want to put it down. If you're looking for it, or an aware reader you might see some connections to the current situations that connect this story to the present day, but it isn't like the book was written with that in mind. This is the kind of book that when you pick it up, you better be ready to be sitting for quite some time until you finish it, because you'll not want to put it down. David does a great job at craft a tale that compels you to keep reading. You get invested in the storyline and the characters that are there. I'm not a fact checker and I know nothing of military things, I just enjoy a good action-y, thriller-y, political book. I just moved to Texas when I got this book, so reading this was kind of fun! It was an interesting link into a state I know little about- I must say I still don't know it as well as my native California... or even Alabama (I spent two years there)... It's a good read, check it out.

This book is timely and realistic. A great perspective on what could happen to our country if we continue down the path that we are on. The writing was direct and engaging. No superfluous language. A page turner. I gave it to my Dad and he couldn't put it down. The writer had a great understanding of the Tea Party and soul of Texas.

I enjoyed this book and felt it was very realistic. It was also a timely book with the Presidential election and American Tea Party. I received a free copy of the book for an honest review.
