    A costumer's must-have!

    Highly recommended for anyone interested in creating a wide variety of historical clothing. As a seamstress and a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, this book has been one I've wanted in my reference collection for some time now. The patterns are simple and easily enlarged to fit a variety of sizes. A definate must-have book!

    Wonderful!

    This book is a must have for any costume designer. She has made a couple errors in the time periods of some of the costumes but it isn't that big of a deal. For SCA purposes, it is a treasure trove of ideas!

    I found this book at the library and BEGGED the librarian to let me buy it before it was reprinted... If you sew period costumes, this book is a MUST-HAVE!

    One of the best costume books around

    This was the first costume book I got, and I highly recommend it. For a general overview of a wide variety of costumes, this is a .great. book. You should be somewhat comfortable with sewing before beginning to make some of the costumes from the book -- a few of the patterns have a few problems with them. It also doesn't have much discussion of fabrics for different periods. However, the book is wonderful for displaying the shapes of different periods of costumes. The scaled patterns are very useful. I've made many of the costumes in the book, and would recommend the simpler ones (Norman, etc) for any level of sewer.
