Paul His Story is written with historical truth, but with the intrigue and suspense of a novel. The title aptly defines this presentation as a story, which portrays the chronological events of Paul's Christen journey and his single-minded pursuit to bring Christ into the hearts of all people. It is written with intelligence, and the result is not only an enhanced appreciation for what Paul did for the sake of Christ, but it also delivers the Christian message that opens the reader's heart to the faith of the early church. I look forward to reading Jerome Murphy-O'Connor's other books.

I am presently reading this book for the 4th. time! It has transformed my understanding of the Christian Gospel. It is the centrality of freedom from law which I find most moving.

Murphy-O'Connor, a noted Pauline scholar, professor of New Testament at the Ecole Biblique et Archeologique Francais in Jerusalem and author of a previous work on the life of Paul, approaches the apostle from a critical and academic standpoint. The present work combines the biblical record with a deep understanding of the culture and geography of the region to produce an excellent, albeit inventive, biography. O'Connor draws from Paul's letters hints and shades of meaning that assist the reader in forming a consistent view of a sometimes conflicted but always fervent servant of God. The book is replete with conclusions drawn from inference, but the inferences are reasonable, and taken together, put flesh on the man.
