Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
We've all heard of Paul Revere, but who was he and why was he so important to the history of the United States? This book answers these questions by going into some detail about Paul Revere's life, where he grew up, what his family life was like, and what he did for a living. It briefly discusses the Boston Tea Party and Revere's part in that historical event. It explains why Revere's ride to alert the people that the British were coming was so important. It also includes information about his life after the revolutionary war. There are maps, pictures of original furnishings, and pictures depicting the famous ride and other events that took place at the start of the Revolutionary War. There are also many portraits of people who had a part in the revolution. The book is well organized and easy to follow. There is a table of contents, a glossary, important dates to help understand Revere's life and the significant events in his life. In addition, there is a list of information about important people who helped Revere and a section that includes information on how to find out more about him. This book is an excellent book for educators to have in their library. It is easy to understand and interesting for young readers. 2003, Compass Point Books, Ages 9 to 11.
