    Pawn

I thought it was a good book. The story line held my attention but i was confused during some parts. For example she told devon everything yet she with held the feelings she had about prom. Which I understand she cant remember the dream she has but she still git a really bad vibe about prom.

I thought that this was a great story. It was loaded with mythology and mystery. The story is intriquing and well thought out. I love the characters and the way the story flows. I am very interested to find out where this story will lead and I am looking forward to the next book.

It's tough to be graduating high school. To be crossing over that threshold from teenager to adult, from High School to college and/or the work force, to … to be haunted by dreams, to have some sort of electrical discharge that can short circuit small appliances and devices, to believe a mermaid-like creature has tried to drown you … OK, so Endora Lee Andrews, also known as “Eel” as both a play on her name AND for her electrical oddity, may be facing more issues than your typical graduating teenager.

Pawn is the second of Sophie Davis' books that I've read this year. I liked our protagonist, Endora, but I was suspicious of all of her friends and of the adults in this book. SOMETHING felt wrong … if this was the sensation that Ms. Davis was aiming for, it worked. However, I never shook the sense of paranoia that anyone, any time, could turn out to not be what they seemed. It's tougher to enjoy a book when you're constantly looking over your shoulder and that of the heroine.

    RATING: 4 stars.
DISCLOSURE: To be honest, I don't recall if I got this for free or if I paid a nominal fee for it. Either way, I DID promise the author I would give it an honest review upon completion.

I received a copy from the author for an honest review. What if everything you believed in life about yourself turned out to be a lie? Had déjà vu moments that really were going play out in the future as if you had already experienced them? Endora or Eel as her friends call her has those experiences. She also seems to cause electronics to stop working. But on her 18th birthday, things start to happen and change around her. Her best friend Devon is about the only person she can trust. She misses her dad but when he doesn’t meet her for the appointment they have planned together, Eel gets an odd call that changes things. Once Kannon saves her from a near death experience, the connection is strong between them and undeniable. But is he safe to be around and is he someone she can trust? What secrets will Eel learn about who she really is? This is the beginning of another pull you in story from Ms. Davis you will want to pick up and read.

Endora Lee Andrews is popular, has great friends and is celebrating her 18th birthday.  All her life she’s had a special quirk…she has an odd electrical charge that shorts out batteries, watches and cell phones.  Her friends call her Eel, for electric eel but she never really minds since she’s been this way all her life.

Hanging with friends, a call from her father, and a fun night was what Endora Lee Andrews expected for her 18th birthday.  Instead she meets the mysterious Kannon, who pulls her in like a magnet and yet his presences alarms her.  The call does come through from her father and they even set up a meeting, but strangely he’s a no show and disappears without a trace.  But Endora’s most disturbing birthday surprise is the premonitions and nightmares she starts experiencing, giving her glimpses into future…

Uncertain and haunted by her nightmares, Endora must discover the secrets behind her new abilities.  She must solve the mystery of her father’s disappearance and why she has this unnatural draw towards Kannon.  Gods know, Endora’s life and afterlife might just depend on it.

I loved this book.  Although Eel is faced with abnormal situations she rallies and faces it head on.

A strong heroine, a hot mysterious stranger, great friendships and a completely original and engaging plot, Sophie Davis writes a BRILLIANT new series young adult series!
