"Peace to You Too, Brother" -- by Chuck Pora

The turbulent Sixties was a tense time of assassinations, racial unrest, drugs, moral decadence, defiance of authority, the counter culture movement, militancy, riots, and brassiere and draft card burning. But for all the things that wreaked havoc on the flower power generation, the greatest – by far – was the military draft – which, if you passed the physical, usually meant a direct ticket to Vietnam – and for a staggering number of young Americans, a one-way one.

"Peace to You Too, Brother" tells the story of three young baby boomers growing up in Erie, Pennsylvania during the Sixties who are attempting to build their futures, but the Vietnam War is hanging over their heads. It's a story of dreams, devotion and devastation.

Editorial Reviews

Erie Times-News - Doug Rieder
"In his debut novel ("Peace to You Too, Brother"), Chuck Pora has taken one giant leap for Chuck Pora. Subtitled "A story of dreams, devotion and devastation" and based on a true story, the book is about Vietnam-era America and its effect on three Erie (PA) youths -- Daniel, Sandy and Ken. It's an ambitious undertaking, full of suspense and consternation for its protagonists. It helped me realize that a novel on the Vietnam War can be as much about those who stayed as those who fought."

Meet the Author

Chuck Pora resides in Erie, Pennsylvania, where he’s lived his entire life. A baby boomer, he grew up in the chaotic Sixties, where JFK, the Beatles and Vietnam were center stage. His knowledge of the era is extensive, and he enjoys sharing it in his writings. Writing is Chuck’s true passion, and writing a novel has been his lifelong dream. After authoring two books of short essays on growing up in the Sixties, "Pora Lotta Lore" (2009) and "Pora Lot More Lore" (2010), Chuck has achieved that dream with "Peace to You Too, Brother." It's the culmination of years of hard work, late nights and exhaustive research, and he's thrilled to bring it to you.
