Physical therapist and personal trainer Rhodes, trained at Columbia University, provides a comprehensive and realistic step-by-step program to getting maximum benefits from exercise. By using postural evaluation and correct body mechanics, along with the simple exercises outlined in the book, one can work out safely and thoroughly without risking or exacerbating bodily injury. Intended for use as a manual, the book provides illustrations and guidelines for sessions designed to strengthen and stabilize different muscle groups, exercises to develop flexibility and natural alignment, and action plans to improve cardiovascular capacity for people at all levels of fitness. An exercise log is included, as are bibliographies, appendixes, and a resource list for further study. An Important Companion for Exercisers of Every Fitness Level

As a 31-year old mother of a 10-month old who is also trying to balance a full-time career, exercise time is at a premium, but I always try to make time for an aerobics class 2-3 times per week. Exercisers of every fitness level will find this book as helpful and relevant as I did. In an easy-to-understand manner, Jennifer Rhodes fills the void between your typical 'burn the calories away' exercise book and 'scientific and technical' physiology book. This book has helped me become more mindful of my own posture and movement when exercising, instead of simply pushing for the burn and unknowingly injuring myself. She made me realize that some of those little aches and pains I used to get from exercising aren't just due to normal soreness. I had been unwittingly causing some of these from simply not aligning myself correctly.
