There are at least 40,000 species of spiders which are grouped by common characteristics. The 13 spiders in this book are from the web-weaving, fishing, jumping, hunting, sac spinning, and ambush categories. The length for both the male and female spider, what the spider eats, where it lives, and other interesting facts are presented using a two page spread for each spider. With a statistics chart and labeled color photographs, this book is easy to navigate even for young readers. The book also includes subject-specific vocabulary words that are defined in the glossary, an index, a list of related books, and steps explaining how to find safe Internet sites that can provide more information. This book would be a welcome addition to any elementary school library. The simple and well organized pages would make this an excellent resource when teaching young children researching skills or how to write a report. Reviewer: Melissa Hower
