Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Melissa Hower
This book is one of the books from the "Pebble First Guides" series, and it supports science standards related to life science. It is filled with information about 13 species of wildcats from all over the world. Well known species such as bobcats, cheetahs, and jaguars are introduced as well as less common species such as the caracal, ocelot, and serval. The length, the weight, what the species eats, where it lives, and other interesting facts are presented using a two page spread per species. With a statistics chart, simple maps, and beautiful photographs, this book is easy to navigate even for young readers. The book includes a glossary and an index. It also contains a page that lists other book titles that relate to topics in this book and steps on how to find safe Internet sites that provide more information. This book would be a welcome addition to any elementary school library. The simple and well organized pages would make this an excellent resource when teaching young children researching skills or how to write a report. Reviewer: Melissa Hower
