Doody Reviews
Reviewer: James Milburn, MD (Ochsner Clinic Foundation) Description: Part of the RadCases series, this book consists of 100 pediatric radiology cases followed by concise bullet-point information about the diagnoses. Purpose: The purpose is to provide a set of cases with high-quality images and concise teaching points for study purposes. The intent was to improve on other case books by having clearer annotations and descriptions for the images. The book succeeds, as these cases appear with well-reproduced images and pertinent didactic information. Audience: It is written primarily for those studying pediatric radiology, especially radiology residents, pediatric radiology fellows, and medical students. The book and the accompanying online cases would be particularly useful as a review for residents or fellows studying for board exams. Features: All organ systems are represented by the 100 cases, with specific imaging findings which should be learned by anyone studying pediatric radiology. The group of cases in the book is supplemented by an additional 150 cases available online for one year using an access code provided in the book. These are also high quality, with the added ability to magnify and pan the images during review. Assessment: This book compares quite favorably to other case review series. The image quality is excellent, the cases are pertinent, and the bullet-point discussions are useful and informative.
