Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Eleanor Heldrich
This is a large—11-inch square—but thin lift-the flap book with extra large flaps. A large cheerful white rabbit sits in a meadow on the front cover, and he appears again under a large head-of-cabbage-flap on the very first double-page spread. The words on that page celebrate spring with "quacks and flaps and cheep-cheeps, too" ready to play peek-a-boo. At the top of all the pages with flaps, the words say "Guess who? Peek-a," leaving reader and child to say, "Boo!" There are eight pages with large flaps, all of them brightly colored and cheerful with large and familiar outdoor images underneath. All of the flaps are easy to lift and there is always a hint of what is underneath, rabbit's ears, for instance, on the first flap. On the last double-page spread all of the flaps, much smaller, appear for one last time. There are actually very few movable books perfectly suited to the very young, but this is one of them.
