Editorial Reviews

Barbara Bosworth
"Peeper in My Pocket" is a wonderful interactive text with engaging rhymes and rhythm. It's a perfectly fun read aloud for preschool and primary-age children and an excellent mentor text for writing ABC books for elementary-age children. Additionally, the text supports vocabulary development for the very young as the child searches for the lovable Peeper characters and describes their action or location.
Kim Clerkin
My girls (6, 4 and 15 mo) thoroughly enjoyed this book. They loved trying to decide which peeper was their favorite and ended up choosing them all! The pictures are colorful and crazy. I recommend this book for anyone who is working with a child on letter recognition, rhyming or reading.
Sandra Winans
"A Peeper in My Pocket" tickles the eyes and ears of the very young and the young at heart. The captivating creatures, Peeper poetry and simple line drawings engage the imagination. The first of many Peeper creations...I hope." Sandra Winans, Elementary School Reading Specialist

Meet the Author

Sandy Pugh created the first whimsical Peeper creatures as unique baby gifts for a friend, using paint and cut paper. Originally from Wisconsin, Sandy spent her childhood along the east coast, settling in Washington, DC after she graduated from Wake Forest University in 1974. While raising her three children, Sandy volunteered at library storytime readings and taught pre-school art appreciation. In 2000, Sandy returned to college at Marymount University to earn a BA degree in art education, She has taught everything from AP art history in high school to classroom art in elementary schools in Northern Virginia. Sandy's third book, Meet Me at the Masterpiece - A Zany Peep at Art won a award at the Paris Book Festival in 2010. She is currently working on her fourth book in the Peepers series, BubbleCubes - A Zany Peep at Shapes.
