Meet the Author

Lisa Soares Hale was raised in the Hawaiian Islands where love, family and cherished traditions are a part of everyday life. She spent many hours in her childhood listening to her family's stories of days past. The colorful Hawaii of her youth was a place where "family" extended beyond bloodlines and flowed to neighbors, friends and even strangers. After graduating from high school in Hawaii, Hale moved to California where she graduated from California State Northridge with a bachelor's of science degree. She now lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her husband and three daughters. Penny Love is her first book.

    The best book for your grandkids

    This is a wonderful book that shows how a grandmother established a lifelong relationship with her granddaughter by having her remember that her grandmother loves her every time the girl found a penny on the ground. I started the same tradition with my grandchildren - with a bit of a change to include all coins and both my husband and me. Now when either of my grandchildren find a stray coin - on the ground or around the house - they will pick it up and tell their parents "Grammy and Papa love me!" This is the best children's book we have ever given to them.

    I love this book

    This is a darling story and I can't wait to read it to my 3 grandaughters. I hope to start this with them very soon. Thanks for a very special book.

    A heart-warming, feel-good book to enjoy over and over!

    My 5 year old daughter loves reading this book over and over again. With her Grammie living on the opposite coast, the penny has now become a constant reminder of her grandmother and the love they share. Whether young or old, you'll find yourself relating to the characters in the book. It is definitely a book that can be passed on through the generations.

    A Heart-Warming Story About Family Love

    This is a delightful, heart-warming story about unconditional family love. The illustrations are bright, cheerful and match the story perfectly. It also calls to mind your own sentimental memories of years gone past. It is simply touching and a must-have in your home.

    Touching story for children, beautiful gift idea for grandchildren

    Beautifully written and illustrated book about a little girl whose grandmother tells her that everytime you find a penny, it means 'I love you.' The book takes you through her life, as she finds pennies and remembers her grandmother's love, until one day she shares it with her own granddaughter. My mother-in-law, who lives out of state, read this book to my 9-year old daughter. They both then made a 'Penny Love' jar together. Now, my daughter has a tangible expression of her Nana's love every time she finds a penny.

    Beautiful Children's Book

    This book is a precious story of love and generations -- grandmother and child. It has outstanding artwork that would be appealing to any child. A great story with an 'action' suggestion at the end... And it is perfect for a Grandmother to read to her grandchildren and begin the tradition in the story with her own grandchildren.

    Beautiful book!

    This is a beautiful book that gives a new meaning to 'find a penny, pick it up. . .' My two sons gave this book to their grandma for Grandparent's Day. Now they are so excited to find a penny on the ground. We talk about Grandma every time!

    Tradition Builder - Reminder of Family Love

    Penny Love is a wonderful addition to the family library. I gave it to my Mom to share with her precious grandchildren on a regular basis. I believe it will be the start of a sweet family tradition - one that will be passed down through the years. This book is a great reminder of finding love in 'the little things'. A cousin having the first grandchild on that side of the family - 'Penny Love' provides another great opportunity to share a tradition-builder with my Aunt...who will make a wonderful penny-loving Grandma. Now purchasing another copy for me is also a great move! I am ready to begin this tradition with my own grandchildren when the time comes.
