Meet the Author

It was almost 50 years ago, when a routine trip to one of the first McDonald's Restaurants
to open in the US, yielded a fist full of coin change and in it was an Indian Head Penny. I asked my Dad what it was and he told me about these early pennies, the ones minted before Lincoln Pennies were made. Back then it was not hard to find them in change and no one thought much about it. He suggested that I start collecting coins and so began a life long journey of finding and saving and studying coins.

My collecting had its ups and downs – some years I would find coins I needed and sometimes not. I never bought any coins, that was a hard and fast rule.

I once missed out on one of the most sought after coins ever minted, when I learned that my Aunt Sara
had a 1916 Liberty Standing Quarter in uncirculated condition. My cousin beat me to it unfortunately. And in case you are wondering what it is worth today, how about $25,000!

Besides collecting I have raised three children and have five grand children and live in Arizona where I still find coins of value in ordinary change and sell them on eBay for a nice profit.
