This book has many practical suggestions for how to succeed as a policy analyst. Mintrom explains the importance of managing interpersonal relations -- going beyond the usual technical concerns of policy textbooks. Networking, writing for multiple audiences, managing your career, building expert policy knowledge, working in teams, giving presentations, running meetings, are all covered. He shows the relevance of the chapters through statements from policy analysts. It is a great book for practitioners, as well as students in policy courses. Was this review helpful? This is not the standard rational choice take on policy analysis. Instead, it focuses on politics, bargaining, etc. I would like to see more practical applications in the book. But overall it is quite useful when if it were to be used with a book that has more practical tools and cases. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
