This is my favourite Pepper & Longstreet mystery so far, and I have loved each and every one of them! I was instantly drawn in by an unforseen plot twist that happens right at the beginning of the story and propels Pepper into the middle of an investigation into the theft of the Apple Junction payroll. This book also offers such a clever way of giving the reader a little insight into Longstreet's curious past. I have always been a fan of Nancy Drew & the Hardy Boys mysteries, and J.T. Lewis has captured the very essence of those types of youth oriented stories, while continuing to appeal to an adult audience as well. I highly recommend this and any of the Pepper & Longstreet mystery series!!
