Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
If only dogs were allowed, thinks the spotted pooch star of Pepper Goes to School by Linda Bleck. The interactive pull tabs and flaps of this paper-over-board volume show Pepper tilting his head as the text reads "But dogs aren't allowed on the school bus," and a lift of the flap depicts his owner, Lily, saying, "Sorry, Pepper," through the bus window. So the pup walks to school, and when Lily says he can be her show-and-tell, a pull tab lets Pepper jump for joy. Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.
Children's Literature - Eleanor Heldrich
Pepper is the name of a brown spotted dog with black ears and tail whose best friend is a little girl named Lily. Lily goes to school on a school bus. Dogs are not allowed on the bus, but on the day of this story Pepper walks to Lily's school so he can spend the day with her. He goes to class with her, he helps the teacher clean the board, he keeps time to the music, he plays games at recess and helps Lily paint a picture. The peppy little pup is pretty good at everything, too. The book has lift-the-flaps, pull-tabs, wheels to turn, and a pop-up on the last page. The pictures are cheerful and amusing and the story is appealing. This is a very sturdy book for small fingers, especially if on the first reading care is taken to bend each of the tabs gently upward so they will continue to be easy to pull.

    An instant favorite

I am the father of four children ages 2-15. I have always read regularly with all of them. My two year old daughter loves this book. (In fact, I feel I am writing her review since she can't write yet). The illustrations are beautiful and the story flows well. At this age it is important that the pictures connect with the child and this book cetainly does that beautifully.

Child's best friend goes to school!

My 3 year old granddaughter recently started pre-school. As a "surprise" for her accomplishment, I bought her first "Pepper" book. She loves the story as she can relate to going to school and she also has a new best friend - her puppy, Baby Todd. Needless to say, I have read this story to her over and over again; and she does not tire of hearing it. She also enjoys the "Pulls and Pop up" features. It's great and I will be looking for additional "Pepper" books!

Both of my kids love it.

My 20 month old likes it because it is short and a pop up book. My 4 year old likes it because it is short and she can recoginze "read" some of the words. Overall the book is well worth the sale price I paid for it.

If you would like a 2-3 year old child to be intrigued then this is the book to buy as most of the pages have some kind of activity and excitement for this age group. My Grandson loves this book.

    Good Children's Book...

I bought this book for my 3-year old grandson. As a dog lover he was delighted with my choice of books for his library. Good book for reading to little ones.
