Perfect Angelby Minnie Riperton
The best Minnie Riperton album, and still the closest she came to stardom. Stevie Wonder chipped in on drums, keyboards, and other instruments, and also wrote several tracks. "Reasons" was her finest uptempo tune, while the title track was a wonderful change-of-pace number. She also got her biggest hit, "Lovin' You," which became a signature tune.

This is the best title for this album, her first ''mainstream'' album. (Her top 40 hit ''Lovin' You'' is occasionally heard on Burger King commercials.) The range of her voice easily ascends to the clouds as if it were made of wings. My college roommate and I used to listen to this album to fall asleep by, closing with the song ''Our Lives'' with a Stevie Wonder harmonica back-up that is so sweet you would think you had brownies in the oven! The last line of that song ''and the days that you've been gone will vanish like this song, sung by the rain when we were fast....asleep'' was the perfect way to be tucked in!
Pure heart. Pure soul. Pure. talent. Pure love. "Lovin' You", "It's so Nice to See Old Friends", "Take a Little Trip", "Edge of a Dream", "Perfect Angel". Five songs that truly touches my heart, all on the same album. Seeing as how you left us so early in life, listening to your music brings tears to my eyes. You truly are a perfect angel. Spread your wings, Minnie, because I know you earned em'.
This album is truly a classic! Minnie's voice soars in each song. My absolute favorite is 'Edge of a Dream' written by Stevie Wonder. It is a masterpiece.
