Brantley's book is really quite fascinating. He provides an excellent, smart, easy-to-understand explanation of how the California fruit industry works, and how the pluot (a combination of a plum and an apricot) ever came to exist in the first place. My favorite parts were learning about all the local breeders and farmers who've placed their livelihoods on the line to grow such a strange little creation. Even if you're not a real foodie (which I'm not...at all), the book is fun, funny, and, at times, sad.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
