Where Can we find the kind of love you truly need? ''If we want real love, ideal love, limitless love, God's heart is where to find it. It's the love big enough to meet the God-sized needs of your life." - Ruth Myers The title of this book is so captivating, I was excited when l received a copy for me to read and review. Unfortunately it has taken me over a month to write a review about it because l did not enjoy the book as much as l thought l would. I read the first few pages and l just could not get it together, l put it down for a couple of days almost gave up but I finally read it to the end. I did not connect with this book because there are many story lines within it that l could not keep up with. At the beginning the book drags along and l found it really hard to get engaged with what the author was trying to portray. Having said that, I must admit the author does bring out God's love in a way l had never looked at it before. She tells about how God carried her through all the trials that she encountered particularly since she lost her first husband to cancer at a young age and had to travel from one place to another alone with her two children to carry on with her ministry. There were moments when she felt alone but God's love was more than she needed and He carried her through. I highlighted this quote in particular,. "The more we let God be God the more we find out that He is the answer to what we are lacking, the answer to what we are longing for. Our needs and our trials give Him a chance to reveal Himself in new ways. For every need in our emotional or mental or spiritual life, for every problem in our relationships, for every trial we go through, there's something in God, such as His love, His power, His provision, that can bring us through triumphantly, if we know and believe in Him in the hour of need. God is our first source, and ultimately the only Source, for all we need for a full and satisfied life". - Ruth Myers Ruth Myers is a woman who went through a lot of trials, but one thing l admired about her story is her ultimate dependence upon God to meet her every need. She portrays herself as a woman of strength who has allowed herself to grow through all her trials and through experiencing the perfect love of God. As she states here,. "Trials are evidence that He loves you, proof of how precious you are to Him. They come to cut away the defects within you, to remove any malignant growths in your spiritual and emotional life. Trials keep you from settling for superficial, short- lived happiness, so that you will live in His love more of the moments of more of your days" - Ruth Myers And finally my favourite quote in the book to sum up "The perfect love" is; "...God is able to demonstrate His love through meeting our needs because of His perfect power and greatness and sovereignty. His perfect love is backed by all that He is as the strongest Strong one, Exalted far above all other powers." - Ruth Myers I would indeed recommend people to read through "The perfect Love" especially if you are one who desires to know the depth and width of God's unlimited, bountiful and fulfilling love. If you are seeking a step by step walk through of just how much God loves us, this is the book for you. The Perfect Love By Ruth Meyers is everything I had hoped it would be! Honestly, a lot has been going on in my life that has made me doubt a lot of things. I knew that when I read the description for this book that I had to read it. I had to find some kind of perfect love because of so many questions and hurts and heartaches I am experiencing right now. God¿s love is perfect. It is perfect because He is perfect. Ruth Meyers does an amazing job incorporating scripture into every aspect of God¿s perfect love. She uses many different translations which I find to be amazing. I had so many things underlined and bookmarked that I know I will be reading this again and again, not only when I am experiencing times of doubt or loneliness, but also when I am experiencing times of joy. God¿s love abounds in all things and in all ways. This book was exactly what I needed for this time in my life. Perhaps you are not in this place; a place of loneliness or doubt. Even so, this book can be exactly what you need no matter your feelings and place in life. The book Perfect Love is a great book that explores the ways in which God loves us. Ruth talks about the different ways in which God loves us through sharing stories from her life that show how God stepped in and was there for her; whether it was dealing with being a missionary overseas, dealing with her first husband getting sick, or struggling with her faith in Him Ruth talks honestly. The way Ruth writes is like she wrote her book just for you. Her style is warm, comforting and yet her words can bring conviction when necessary. I wasn't able to fully read this whole devotional, but what I read of it spoke to me. If you are looking for a devotional that is written in an easy to understand manner, has examples from life that aren't cliché and digs deep into God's word then I highly recommend this book. It will bless you in its raw honesty and let you know that you aren't alone, that God does love you no matter what you are facing in life at the moment. I received my free eBook copy of Perfect Love by Ruth Myers from Waterbrook/Multnomah Press for the strict purposes of posting a review. What are the costs? Ruth Myers addresses all of these questions and more in The Perfect Love. This book begins by pointing out the shortcomings of the love we are use to in a fallen state and shows how the love of God not only fills what we are missing out on, but lavishes His love upon us in abundance. Then Myers gets personal and explores the depths of love we can all experience and abide in. More often than not, believers included, are told that God is love. What does that mean if it is never discussed as a how-to? The Perfect Love isn't a manual, however it is such a concise look at His love, any reader will gain some insight into their own relationship with God , whether they are new to the faith or seasoned believers looking for more. Myers use of Scripture and bits of poetry enhance the overall book. There's a great discussion on the Trinity's handwork in the mercy that God extends to us in chapter nine. So, what does His love look like for believers? "He is our complete answer for wisdom and knowledge, for life and growth, for forgiveness and fullness, for deliverance from every hindrance to our spiritual lives. And since we are in Him and He in us, we have a fresh new identity."(pg. 190) I really enjoyed that quote. We can live in His love. We are free to become our true selves when we abide in the love of Christ. I have to admit, at times I found this volume a bit long-winded. Although, that was to my advantage. As an avid reader I can read anywhere from six to ten books a month. I devoted two weeks to this book alone. Myers wrote in such a comprehensive manner, I found myself pausing to reflect in between paragraphs. I dissected my personal relationship to God more than I normally do, which is quite often. Her ponderings led me to my own. The Perfect Love isn't your run of the mill book on God's love. It is meaty, weighty and enjoyable.I hope any reader who picks this book up will appreciate the wisdom of a lifetime that Myers has shared. May the love of Christ flow in and through you.
