Reigning beauty queen Samantha Winger is launching her pet project, a music program for kids. All she has to do is follow the pageant's rules-no smoking, drinking, or "cavorting" in public.

That's fine, until D.J. Thomas-God's gift to baseball-throws her a wild pitch. He slams her in an interview, and the video goes viral. Sam's no shrinking violet. She parlays D.J.'s apology into a national T.V. appearance-and a very unexpected, very public kiss.

Soon, paparazzi catch the couple in a steamy make-out session, and Sam's music program is on the block. The blazing hot relationship is threatened even more when D.J.'s son begs to trade in Little League for music class.

Editorial Reviews

USA Today - Kathy Altman
“This introduction to Mindy Klasky’s Diamond Brides series is a heartfelt, conflict-ridden story as irresistible as its characters. It’s also a whole lot of sexy, savvy fun… Super-strong conflict, a naughty, tongue-in-cheek tone and the occasional sweet surprise all put Perfect Pitch firmly in the you gotta read this category. Klasky's writing is top-notch, her pacing swift and sure.”

    Two words

It sucked! The story ended abruptly. So stupid. I usually try to give fair ratings. But this author did a poor job of wrapping up this story. And for the love of things you never find out why Sam takes on the role of Summer Queen to begin with. There wasn't even an epilogue. Totally not worth the read.

    So good!

I'm a huge fan of sports romances, especially baseball! I've only come across a few, so I was excited to find this book for free. I really enjoyed it. I found the characters engaging and liked that the love interest had a son. My only complaint is that it wrapped up rather quickly, where I might have liked to see a bit more closure. Overall though, this was a great book and I would definitely recommend it to any romance fan.

I LOVE Mindy Klasky. I was first introduced to her through Early Reviews with her As You Wish series and when I won the second book in the Diamond Brides series for this month's Early Review, it was a NO BRAINER to get the first one.

It's good. It's not the quality I expect of Klasky. This is NOT to say I have no intentions of reading the rest of the books (I SO DO - this series was written for me, I swear). It's just not as good as the two books of hers I have previously read. It's a slow start to what will be a fantastic series (having read two more books in the series, I can say this with confidence).

I think my biggest issue with this book is, while it's a bunch of fun, it kind of skated over some really important issues in the name of making the romance happen by the final page. I appreciate that the purpose of this series is romance, but I felt like some issues between the main characters and the main male lead and the son were not given their proper due.

Also, the main characters knew each other for all of TWO MONTHS (maybe) when they got engaged. I know, I know, the series is called Diamond Brides. But COME ON. No history to engaged in two months? Woof.

That being said, I LOVE baseball romances. It's a crazy niche genre and YET I've run into before and am SO GLAD I've run into it a second time. I'm so looking forward to the rest of the series and YOU JUST WATCH ME rip through them time and again.

B- (good writing, fun story, super appealing to my tastes; slow start to a series, hand waving of important issues, somewhat rushed relationship)

    Better understanding of human dynamics

This book deals with human dynamics, especially Father and Son. It also pointed out just how old school some beauty pageants can be based on todays norms. This was a fast read just as the other books in this series are.

I really enjoyed this book. Although the characters were a beauty queen and a major league baseball player (people you normally can't relate too), I found that they were well developed and it was easy to get caught up in their story. The author had a way of making them seem like real people with honest problems and they were likable! The tension, both sexual and conflict driven, between Sam and DJ felt genuine and was just enough to keep the book moving at a fast pace. I will definitely be reading more by Mindy Klasky.

    Really enjoyed!

I love sports romance books! This one was no different! DJ is the man on top, playing for the local pro baseball team. Sam is the beauty queen he insults on National television. Sparks fly. They have uncontrollable chemistry, but is it enough? Throw in an adorable 10 year old son, and you have a great book!

A perfect book to kick off baseball season!

Samantha is a pageant queen who wants to make a difference in the lives of children, by bringing music to their schools. A public relationship is frowned upon, and if she doesn't live up to certain expectations, she could lose her crown and the means to make her dream a reality. Sparks FLY when she meets D.J., a pitcher for a major league ball club. His relationship with his father and his expectations for his son add layers of complexity and angst and affect his relationship with Sam. Their attraction is immediate and their phone calls during D.J.'s road trip allow their relationship to grow in a unique way.

This is a wonderful read by a very talented author. Mindy mixes emotions and descriptions and creates a wonderful world for the reader. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series!

Perfect Pitch is the first volume in author Mindy Klasky¿s Diamo

Perfect Pitch is the first volume in author Mindy Klasky’s Diamond Brides Series and threw one hell of a home run.  I loved this book!
Beauty queen Samantha Winger had given up a lot for this title.  She had to pretty much act like a complete vanilla angel in public, lost a lot of her friends because she couldn’t go out and party, and certainly wasn’t allowed to go out on dates and be caught kissing anyone.  You’d think it was the 1940’s with the rules this pageant had in place.  But it was all worth it when she’s able to get her music education program into the local schools.  She had become the person she was thanks to her love of music and she wanted other kids to be able to experience what she had.  Things were going smoothly until baseball star D.J. Thomas belittles her on national TV.  Ok, he didn’t exactly belittle her, just her title.  He shows up a day later with an apology and she sees this as one hall of a golden opportunity….to help get her music program some TV exposure.  Only problem was that from their first introduction, there are some serious sparks between the beauty queen and the baseball star.  A problem because she couldn’t act on in while reigning as queen.  It was written in the rules.  And when they start spending time together, and are caught by the paparazzi kissing, her time as queen may be over.  But like a run of strikeouts that bring the losing team back from being down to win the game, can D.J. make everything ok?
Oh man, the amount of heat packed into this story was positively delectable! Both Sam and D.J. were likeable characters from two pretty different backgrounds and with two pretty different views on things. But you know what they say about opposites attracting, right?  Thanks to a baseball team road trip, their relationship was able to grow over hours long phone calls and that made their story even more special and believable.  They learned one another inside out and backwards in those phone calls.  They also had some sexy convos that I’m sure would have any eavesdropper blushing! Of course, it wasn’t all happy moments for this unlikely couple and they have more than one obstacle to overcome.  But like all good love stories, they are able to make it all work out in the end.
Thank you, Mindy, for a sexy, sweet read! I will definitely be looking forward to the next in this series!

Mindy Klasky has done it again ¿ but this time she¿s put her lit

Mindy Klasky has done it again – but this time she’s put her literary skills to the task of a baseball romance that begins with a home run. The plot pits love against some socially constructed organizational rules. The entities take turn at bat and the story heads into the final inning with the rules heavy on the scoreboard. I won’t tell you if love or rules win – you have to read it for yourself. But, I will tell you that I can’t wait for the remaining books in this series to arrive on my Kindle!

Get into your comfy clothes, poor a glass of wine, grab your favorite blanket and curl up with Perfect Pitch. I guarantee you won’t regret it!
