The best-selling author of The Perfect Recipe shares her secret for dumping pounds without dieting—and the 250 recipes for her new way of eating.

To millions of citizen cooks, Pam Anderson is a trusted friend who does all the work for them, testing and retesting until she arrives at the best version of classic favorites and simple dishes for company. But gradually, Pam found herself standing with the two thirds of Americans who are more than a few pounds overweight. Fed up with whipsaw cycles of losing and gaining, she vowed to change—but not if it involved dieting, hunger pangs, or saying no to the foods she loved. Complicated recipes were out. She streamlined, creating meals as satisfying as they are quick—pizzas that take just thirty minutes, big-bowl combos, and gratifying snacks to forestall cravings. She discovered a few simple habits that make all the difference. Four years later, she’s still maintaining her forty-pound weight loss. The Perfect Recipe for Losing Weight and Eating Great is a way to eat for life. It’s filled with voice-of-experience tips for curbing appetite, no-nonsense shortcuts for getting food on the table pronto, and recipes that could only have been developed by this food-loving pro—no compromises, no wasted steps, just extraordinary results from ordinary ingredients.

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal

Anderson's (The Perfect Recipe) new cookbookbegins with a section on "stocking up" for a healthier life, a great way to organize and plan your more healthful pantry. This makes a nice segue into Anderson's whole-food-based recipes that integrate full flavors into nutritional American dishes. It's a joy to read the introductions, which offer a glimpse of the author's struggle with weight and health. The dishes represent a refreshing combination of classic diet foods like Seared Turkey Burgers and more hearty classics like Cream of Mushroom Soup, illustrating Anderson's love of food and igniting hope that following her recipes can lead to the smooth integration of healthier living with happy palates. Recommended for all public library cookbook collections.

I bought the book after seeing an article in the USA weekend magazine. Everyting is so easy to make & every recipe our family has tried is a winner! Our young children eat everything up, our seven year old can't wait to try a new recipe from Pam's book & My husband looks for left overs to take for lunch the next day. We now make three or more meals a week from 'The Perfect Recipe.' We have decided to adopt this book as our new 'cooking bible.' In just a few short weeks I have seen a weight loss and the recipes keep me satisfied-Fantastic Book! Thank you Pam for sharing it with the world!

Pam came to do a class at my local Sur la Table last year, and she looks amazing! We all wanted to know how she lost the weight, and her approach is really refreshing and manageable. Small, healthy meals throughout the day, time for tea and even a glass of wine before dinner! I ordered this book as soon as I knew it was coming out, and I've been cooking from it all week. The recipes are great, whether you need to lose weight or not. Try the Tuna Tartare, the Creamy Fettucine, and the Baked Tortilla Chips. Yeah, Pam!!!

I bought this book because I love Pam's book "Perfect Recipes for Having People Over" and so did my mother and mother in law. We have tried about 8 recipes from the book so far, and 7 out of 8 have been fantastic (the other was good, but my family likes a little more kick). What is so great about Pam's books is that you learn one basic recipe and so many ways to modify it using things you have on hand or things your family prefers. My husband loved the healthy creamy pasta and the personal flatbread pizzas (the roasted tomato arugula & prosciutto was amazing). Can't wait to try all of them!

I haven't tried a single recipe from this book yet, but I often use Pam Anderson's How to Cook Without a Book and Perfect Recipes for Having People Over. I've read this book's 40-page Introduction and looked at the ingredients in every recipe. Pam's personal weight loss experience and her cooking expertise have convinced me that this is a cookbook that I can use as I seek a lifestyle change that translates into weight loss.
