The Perfect Ten by Janice Maynard (2008) Review by Winn

I really liked how everything played out in this book and found that it reminded me a lot of another one of my Favorite author Carly Phillips. Just unlike Carly Phillips books she put them all together into one story and made them a lot shorter. In some ways I wish her's where a bit more like Carly Phillips and longer, But over all I still loved reading this book and hope to find more from Janice Maynard. I like how it took you from one womens romance story to the next, I think it brang all three ladies romances together and makes you believe in there magical love potion.

I LOVED the characters in this book they where extremely intoxicating! I think she did very well pulling you into the story and almost making you feel as if you where right there almost like living it!

I can't really think of anything that I disliked about this book, other then what most say about books and that is I was sad when I came to the end!

    romantic and cheesy.

I enjoyed the love part of this, but there were some incredibly cheesy lines that made the book a bit corny.

    Hot, Sexy Read

Janice's newest release is about three cousins, Jeannie, Diana and Elizabeth Killaney who live in Asheville, North Carolina and own the Lotions and Potions Shop which deals with scents and creams for all occasions. One night while mixing their latest potion there is a strange occurrence which makes the girls wonder if what happens next in their lives is a result of their Potion #10.**********He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not is Diana's story. Damian Bennetti has admired Diana from a far, but she has always froze him out. Diana knows all about the fast cars Damian specializes in at his European Import Automobile Repair Shop and has no intention of becoming a notch on his belt. How these two come together is a ride and both have issues to get past from their roots and upbringing. Are they able to make a go of it?**********Movie Magic brings us Elizabeth's story. When she is literally bowled over and knocked into the arms of Enrique Cantilano. Enrique is a freelance locations scout for the movie industry and is taken with Elizabeth right away. But just when he feels that they are getting along well, he has the set back of Elizabeth being suspicious of him. Can they work past the differences between them of past hurts on Elizabeth's part and a difference in ages making him the younger man and attain their own happiness?***********I Dream of Jeannie is the story of Jeannie who is a well proportioned blonde with a genius IQ. She however is never taken serious because of the cliché of 'the dumb blonde', until Nathan Haridison shows up in the shop. Nathan is a person who has been deeply hurt from a previous relationship but finds his attraction to Jeannie one he can't fight. But there are problems which loom and can they work through them to find their own happy ending?***********This is a hot, read where you need your ice water beside you to help cool you off. It is also a story where the three cousins are intertwined with each other and how each has their own demons to put aside before they can have any happiness. Then there is the unshakable thought in their minds that this is all a result of their newest Potion. The reader is taken on a wonderful ride, and you will just have to read this terrific story to find out more. Janice has again given the reader a hot, sexy, eventful read which I have no hesitation to recommend.

    Perfect Romance!

THE PERFECT TEN is a collection of three stories, related just as the three heroines are, and all having the common theme of an apparent love potion that they've concocted for their business, Lotions and Potions, in Asheville, North Carolina.****** HE LOVES ME, HE LOVES ME NOT This first story is that of the youngest cousin, Diana, who unknowingly sets Damian Benetti's blood on fire. Damian works with his hands in his specialty car repair shop, and the hand cream that he gets at Lotions and Potions is the only thing that soothes his rough, dry hands. When he shows an undeniable interest in Diana and begins pursuing her full-throttle, she's determined not to involve her heart. She is convinced that Damian's attraction is the result of the 'magic' hand cream he's been using. Damian has no problem with bringing out more and more of Diana's seductive tendencies, but he comes from an entirely different background and doesn't believe that she could ever want a future with him. He has his work cut out for him in convincing Diana that his interest is genuine and not a result of using her magic hand cream.***** MOVIE MAGIC Elizabeth feels that life is passing her by. A failed relationship several years before has left her a romance recluse, focused solely on helping to run the business she owns with her cousins. When she meets the enigmatic Enrique Cantilano, location scout for a movie producer, she can't help but compare herself to the beautiful starlet-types that he's used to dating. Enrique admires Elisabeth's classic beauty, a breath of fresh air compared to the plastic falseness of the women his usual surroundings. When Elizabeth eventually realizes that Enrique isn't the lackadaisical, unmotivated man she first thought, she's even more confused about putting him first in her life and taking a chance on love.***** I DREAM OF JEANNIE Jeannie has been misjudged as a sexpot since she first developed at a very young age. She had to work with determined diligence to get people to take her seriously few are capable of seeing the real woman behind the beautiful face and body. Nathan Hardison is initially drawn to Jeannie's beauty but quickly discovers a witty, highly intelligent woman who is more than capable of taking care of herself. Jeannie enjoys Nathan's attentions and is pleased to have someone take care of her and her needs. Despite the fun and satisfying pleasures Nathan and Jeannie share, he has concerns about the publicity Jeannie and her cousins are getting over their magic lotions and creams. There is a negative incident in Nathan's recent past that he would prefer remain there, but the media coverage the cousins are receiving makes him feel exposed, resulting in him lashing out at Jeannie with ugly accusations. He soon regrets his ignorance-driven actions and knows that he needs to make things right. Is it too late for Nathan and Jeannie?***** Each of the three cousins in this book are simply adorable and their various personalities keep each story unique and fresh. The young men who are helplessly drawn to them could not have been better written as their heroes.***** Janice always writes characters who seem as if they could be close, personal friends of hers. Her stories are always sweet but are never lacking in emotion or sensuality. I give THE PERFECT TEN the highest of recommendations.

    A reviewer

In Asheville, North Carolina the three Killaney cousins (Diana, Elizabeth, Jeannie) make and personally use some of the lotions they sell in their shop Lotions and Potions. Their latest concoction lotion #10 is dubbed a love potion by the trio.-------------------------- ¿He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not¿. High end European import automobile repair shop owner Damian Bennetti has outrageously flirted with shy Diana for months and has a closet filled with lotions to prove it, but now feels confident enough to ask her out. She believes the hunk must be a womanizer just like her father. In spite of a glass of water dumped on him and further rejection, Damian knows he does not need a love potion to tell him he loves Diana.------------- ¿Movie Magic¿. Elizabeth gave up on men years ago due to a scoundrel who hurt her trusting soul to the core. Enrique Cantilano seeks locations for filming movies when he meets the workaholic. He wants to show her they can have fun together if she would let them.-------------- ¿I Dream of Jeannie¿. Except for her cousins everyone assumes Jeannie is a dumb blond bimbo in spite of a genius IQ and near doctorate in Chemistry men run from her when she shows her intelligence, a trait she refuses to conceal. Six months ago Nathan Hardison¿s fiancée dumped him so he had written off females until he saw Jeannie. However, before he can prove to her that he loves her brains and beauty, the word about love potion #10 becomes public.------------- These three contemporary romances with a touch of a whimsical fantasy element are charming interrelated tales that fans will appreciate. The cousins, who feel like people we know, grow from story to story while their soulmates are developed enough to matter to the audience, who will pass judgment as to their worthiness re the Killaney females. THE PERFECT TEN is a wonderful read.------------- Harriet Klausner
