    I Also Recommend:

    Highly Recommended.....!!!

This book is shocking!! I found my self memorized, sickened and confused by this story when i read it many years ago. I kept asking myself what happened to the people involved after the trial, where are they now, and what happened to the alleged murdered victim, Marie Elizabeth Spannhake. And what every happened to Janice Hooker the wife who helped her husband capture and hold and sex slave for seven years, and who also helped her husband dispose of a young girls body so many years ago. I finally got an answer after many years of wondering. Forgotten Burial: A Restless Spirit's Plea for Justice answered some of my questions. I would highly recommend both books, The Perfect Victim and Forgotten Burial: A Restless Spirit's Plea for Justice. However not for the faint at heart!!

    The title is so right1

I read this book years ago, it could of been my first true crime book and I have never forgotten it. It was a great read, although terrifying, I couldn't put it down, if I remember right it only took me an afternoon to finish it. Buy it, you won't regret it.

    I Loved This Book

It's funny how I got this book. It was a complete accident. I ordered a book called the Perfet Victem but got the wrong author. When I went to pick it up and saw it was not the right book I decided to keep it anyway. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. It's scarey to think that there are people out there like this.

great book but i wud have changed something

I loved the book. It really made you see how it is to be brainwashed. I didnt like the way some of the chapters were set up, i thought that some of them that were in the begining should have been in a later capter then it would have made alot more since.

    Hard to Believe

This book was very interesting. When I first started the book, I thought how crazy could two people actually be to torture someone like that! As the book goes on, I thought this victim didn't seem to be as much of a victim as I had thought. My opinion changed throughout the entire book, but I definetly recommend reading it.

You cannot believe what you are reading

I read along and I could not believe what I was reading. The story of a young woman being kidnapped and tortured does not surprise me. I know women are kidnapped, raped and even killed on a daily basis. What was so extraordinary was that she stayed. She had so many chances to excape and run to the police yet the hold over her was so extraordinary that that was not even an option that she would dare dream of. This is a must read. This book shows us a side of humanity that we would all rather not know about but it could be happening right next door.

    Too Close for Comfort

This is story mainly interested me becasue Red Bluff Ca is only an hour away from where I live. while reading this book it made me think of all the crazy people in this world and that Im living amongst them everyday of my life. After reading the book I had to go to Red Bluff and find the 1140 Oak St home for myself. It was an experience I will remember for the rest of my life

An intersting story of modern sex slavery

This was an excellent true crime book, but it was a little too obvious at some points that it was written by the victim's lawyer. At some points the lawyer seemed to be a little too self-righteous. Otherwise, an amazing book that truly shows how easily one can be brainwashed.

    WHITE SEX SLAVE

Cameron Hooker believed that all women secretly desire to be dominated by the strong hand of a man. If a woman should protest, then corrective punishment is in order. After a night chained naked on the rack with her head encased in a 'head box', the woman will place herself at the feet of the man the next morning and express 'love'. To Cameron Hooker, this was proof that he was right ... all women desire to be dominated. ------- This true story will leave you sleepless and unable to get the image of an inocent woman, Colleen Stan, out of your mind. Over seven years of physical and mental torture, equal to anything experienced in the Holocaust, is unbelieveable yet true. This book is not for the weak of heart. Various tortures and lack of any human compassion, reduce Colleen Stan to a virtual sex slave. Sustained by her faith, Colleen fights to stay alive and survive, something that the young woman enslaved before her was unable to do. Buy this book and read it to learn just how evil one man can be.

    Unsatisfied

I bought this book because the crime itself sounded interesting to me. When I read the synopsis, I thought to myself 'what kind of human being would keep a sex slave hidden in his house for 7 years?' But as I read the book, it was evident that 'K' was not really a captive. Even though it was in the 70s, I highly doubt that there are people naive enough to believe in the existence of a 'slave company'. Based on the information given by the author, it seemed that K was NOT held against her will and the author was giving us her version of the story.

    True Crime Horror

I was terrified when I read this book. I could hardly believe that this could happen to anyone....ever. This book is very well written..so well that I could feel everything this poor girl went through. The emotions, the horror, believing that she would never see her family again. Brainwashed to believe that she belonged to him and his wife. I couldn't put this book down. I had to read it till I knew she was safe. Anyone who would ever think of hitch hiking should read this book. You'll never put your thumb out on the highway again. This is a must read. Especially if you read true crime.

    Excellent True Horror Story.

Excellent Book! Hard to believe that such things still happen. Criminal Justice Professor would test us on true crime books like this one. He always had excellent suggestions.
