Overview

Sometimes happy endings are just the beginning of an even harder road. Although her aunt and sister believe she should get help to deal with her past demons, Patience believes the only thing she needs is Zeke. When he comes back into her world, her life couldn't be more perfect. Except old demons pick the worst time to surface, and once again their happiness is threatened. Help was never a necessity, but Patience finds out that love isn't always all you need. Zeke's dealt with a lot in his life, but nothing could prepare him for watching the person he loves fall apart. We find out in this novella that Zeke didn't magically fix Patience at the end of the lady book. Their getting back together didn't miraculously cure her. Patience isn't the same girl we meet in Playing Patience. She's shattered and broken. She's trying hard not to let others see what is going on with her. Patience is a girl still dealing with everything that was done to her. I like that about this story, Patience is character is so real because she's still dealing with the years of abuse she was put through. She has the nightmares and panic attacks. She isn't suddenly perfect just because she's with someone. She finds a way to stop her panic attacks but starts keeping secrets that are turning her into a different person. Zeke sees the changes that Patience is going through and he thinks she's healing. His gut tells him she's lying but he won't push her to talk to him. Both Patience and Zeke are scared of losing one another, not being what the other one needs. Patience tries to be what everyone wants her to be but it just ends up making it all worst for. All her life her sister has needed her to keep her safe. Now she's safe but Patience is dealing with too much on her own. She doesn't want to admit she really needs help. If you haven't read Playing Patience, I suggest you read it before this one. This one take place right after the other ends. It's an emotional story and its what happens to so many kids today. Patience is such a broken young woman that its hard for her to let anyone try to help her. Its a great story because it shows not only what a person deals with after abuse but how it affects a relationship. Highly recommend it.

This was a good continuation of their story and I was happy to see some more growth between both characters. There was a good flow to the story and I will definitely read another book by Tabatha Vargo.

I loved Playing Patience, so I knew I'd be eager to allow Zeke and Patience's lives to captivate me again. They had so many difficulties in their lives and this sequel was right on with how these troubles can still affect your life even though you love each other! They have to be resolved. Reading their story was an emotional mix of happiness, dread, and finally, satisfaction! I loved these characters!

An amazing sequel to an awesome, sexy Zeke Debut. I loved this book so much it was so hard to put down. I stayed up most the night just to finish it. In less than 24 hours I devoured it. Here are my Goodreads updates as I was reading... Hope you enjoy them. 07/18 27.0% "Somehow I knew this was going to happen..." 07/18 35.0% "OMG Play for me too Zeke... ::sigh::" 07/18 36.0% "ROFLMSAO.... ZEKE DID NOT JUST THINK THAT!!!" 07/18 43.0% "How can you do this to me not even half way through the book.... NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!" 07/19 50.0% "Really Zeke we are going to play the blame game now..." 07/19 51.0% "Oh what a name... lol Love it..." 07/19 67.0% "Seriously trust plays a major roll in any relationship..." 07/19 83.0% "My heart is breaking..." 07/19 96.0% "OMG OMG OMG..." 07/19 98.0% "My daughter is going to flip!!!" Patience feels like she can do anything when she is with Zeke, and Zeke feels like he's on top of the world when he's with Patience. Through thick and thin, they are in love... Never knowing what will happen next, they are torn between bringing out the good & the bad in each other. Will Patience ever know if she can take on the world without Zeke? Will Zeke fight for Patience to keep her at his side?
