Rough book with mostly unlovable, shallow characters

The main character in this book is kind of a thug/a-hole, as are his friends, and pretty much everyone around him. All the characters are pretty one-dimensional and not interesting. The author spends way too much time describing obscure elements of the setting and doesn't put much thought into the plot. Basically nothing happens in this book but lame teenage crime. The cover is the most exciting thing. Also, the author tries to be philoso[hical by repeatedly mentioning Schopenhauer but never really ties it into the story.

It took me back to my youth

This book was an amazing read that I could not put down. Growing up in that exact area, I relived many of my childhood and teenage experiences. The level of detail in Alex Austin's writing, paints a vivid picture of life as a teen on the Jersey Shore.

    Very reminisent of that era.

I couldnt put it down. The characters were so real from that era. Songs like 'The Leader of the Pack' and 'He's a Rebel' come to mind. It was cool to have a boyfriend from the other side of the tracks. Rebel Without A Cause - such a classic also came to my mind....... It will turn back the clock for anyone who reads it, and came from that era, and especially that location.
