Overview

A spin-off of the Partnership in Blood series. - A year after the end of the war that brought them together, Raymond Payet and Jean Bellaiche have found a balance in their relationship: Jean drinks only Raymond's blood; Raymond sleeps only in Jean's bed. The demands of their public roles as president of l'Association Nationale de Sorcellerie and chef de la Cour of the Parisian vampires keep them busy dealing with fallout from the war and the alliance, particularly the not-always-successful partnerships between vampires and wizards. The foundation of an institute to research and educate wizards and vampires about the implications of the partnership bonds only adds to those responsibilities. When political factions, both vampire and mortal, oppose their leaders' decisions, the stress begins to affect Raymond and Jean's deepening relationship. And when political opposition turns to vandalism and then to violence, they'll have to find a way to reconcile their personal and professional lives before external and internal forces pull them apart.

    Great Read

Love conquers all! A year after the war, Raymond Payet and Jean Bellaiche are struggling to keep their relationship afloat. As the world begins to return to normal, they decide to start a school. Many obstacles stand in their way but both men are determined to make it work, not only their relationship but their tasks at large.

Though I haven't read the previous stories, this one contained enough background information that I did not get lost and was able to understand the world the author dreamt up very easily. The turmoil between the two lead characters made for a great story and to see them change and grow was excellent.

I loved how all the characters interacted with one another. You could tell they are a close knit group of friends, and maybe even close enough to be family. I loved how she put a wizard and vampire together as lovers even though most of society saw them as enemies. Tortured characters make for an interesting read and Ms. Tachna sure got it right in this book. Well done and completely enjoyed by me.
