Overview

His thirst for revenge must overcome her powers of seduction . . .

Lord Ramsay believes in fate. But is it chance or something more sinister that has the daughter of his worst enemy delivered into his hands? Finally, the stars are in perfect alignment for his revenge. But Ramsay isn't prepared for the vulnerable, courageous woman he finds—a woman with powers of her own.

Zoe didn't inherit her mother's cruel heart, but that doesn't stop the tall stranger who kidnaps her. Now, she has only one weapon against the fate that awaits her . . . seduction. Yet even as Zoe uses her charms to bewitch her abductor, Ramsay's haunted Pisces soul weaves a sensual spell around her too. Soon, the two will be bound together by a burning passion as bright as the stars—and locked in a desperate struggle against an ancient sorcery that can be vanquished only by love.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
A courtesan’s unattractive daughter meets a passionate Pisces sworn to chastity in the third of the Lords of the Seventh House series of astrological Regency romances from Brown (after Lord Lightning). Adam Selkirk, Lord Ramsay, is sent by the feared Laird of Iskeny to capture Zoe Gervais, the daughter of the flighty Isabelle, a courtesan Adam holds responsible for the death of his sister during the Reign of Terror. Adam and Zoe’s growing mutual attraction risks both her virtue and the ritual purity that would allow Adam to claim the ancient powers of the Old Ones upon his master’s death. Though the astrological element does not overwhelm the plot, Brown’s tale is an uneasy mix of Regency romance, a heavy gothic streak, and an increasingly baroque occult soap opera (“You are such a Pisces, with all the Piscean hunger for self-destruction”) burdened with layers of too convenient revelations. Jenny Brown earned a graduate degree in 19th-century history. Her very first professional sale as a writer was a biographical pieceabout Louisa May Alcott’s childhood. Years later, her favoritehobby continues to be reading biographies of people who livedin the 18th and 19th centuries. She has earned her livingin many different ways: performing as a singer-songwriter inWestern Massachusetts and Nashville, writing nonfiction, and,for the past fifteen years, running a successful small press.

Jenny has been a student of astrology since her teens. This ancientart helps her make sense of her life and accept that the way she is,with all her oddities, is the way she’s supposed to be. Though shehas always loved reading love stories set in the past, what got herwriting them was finding, at last, the Hero of Her Own Romance.
