When I started, I knew nothing about Perl. After reading this book, I had a basic understanding of the guts of Perl. I recommend this book to all beginners that have an interest in learnig an easy programming language.

I never had a perl book before. I Always just tried to learn from webpages. But they never realy explained everything. I do have alot of 'For Dummies' books, so i decided to buy this book. It explained everything I wanted to know, alot more, and even comes with examples on a CD-Rom. I have made alot of programs useing perl thanks to this book. I recommend this book to Beginers.

I own 3 books on PERL, and hav read many more. I tried other books first, but just couldn't totally grasp everything the way I wanted to. I bought Perl for Dummies a couple years ago, and it's been a terrific investment, and THE best book to introduce perl. You probably won't even need another book on it period, unless you really delve deep into the language....and I rarely used the other books I got anyway. I'll put it this way...because of this book, and the love of programming and the desire to learn Perl, I have created cgi applications that have made me serious money. The possibilities are endless. I have nothing to gain by recommending this, only to give back, in some way.

I'm 14 years old and live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The only programming experience I ever had was HTML and QBasic. Had no knowledge about Perl, until I decided to buy this book, and I have to say it's been the best choice I've ever made. It's written in perfect understandable non-technical language and is very easy to follow. If you want to learn Perl, this is the book! You won't regret it!
