Meet the Author

Erle Stanley Gardner (July 17, 1889 – March 11, 1970) was an American Lawyer and author of detective stories. His most famous character, Perry Mason, appeared in over 80 novels (the first time being The Case of the Velvet Claws, in 1933), as well as motion pictures and television. Gardner, who was one of the best-selling authors of all time, had 135 million copies of his books in print in America alone in the year of his death in 1970.

    The world gets to Meet PERRY MASON for the first time.

    This is the very first PERRY MASON book ever written, and it's success spawned over 80 more books, not to mention the beloved TV show of the same name. However, there is little to no similarity between teh TV Perry Mason, and the hero in these books. The TV version was a goodie goodie, who never broke the rules. The Perry Mason in the books is a much rugher tougher fellow...I perfer the tough guy myslef. OH, and there is NO court room scene in this book either! Anyway, this audio drmamtization of teh first book is great fun. The acting is good, the story will hold your attention, and period sound effects are spot on. Two thumbs up!
