Overview

Ulysses S. Grant's two-volume autobiography includes detailed personal writings covering his life from his earliest days through to the end of the Civil War. The truest first-person account of the war that split the nation. Especially interesting are his insights he offers describing the officers, his men and the tactics he used during the many battles. This volume, over 600 pages, offers all of the maps and drawings Grant refers to in his writings. And while Grant does not discuss his presidency, he probably was considering a third volume, but he died five days after he penned the final words here.
