Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Danielle Williams
The cultures of Native North Americans are diverse and rich and it is difficult to imagine any text capable of offering more than a glimpse at the depth of the heritage each tribe contains. Personalities and Places is one title in a new series about Native North Americans that seeks to offer a glimpse into significant people and places throughout the United States and Canada. The short entries are diverse, ranging from broad topics such as basin and plateau to specific places such as Tenochtitlan and specific people, such as Jim Thorpe. Each entry begins with a brief introduction of the subject which is then followed by a slightly more in-depth look at the topic. Brief definitions of unfamiliar words within the entry are included in side-notes, along with a guide for instructors on how to include information in the curriculum. Illustrations of locations or individuals under discussion accompany most entries. The text is part of the "Curriculum Connections: Native North Americans" series. Reviewer: Danielle Williams
