Meet the Author

Richard J. Crawford, of Denver, holds three degrees in communication including Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Southern Illinois University and a Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Crawford served with distinction as a professor at the University of Northern Colorado and the University of Colorado, including teaching advocacy inside the law school at this latter institution. As a professor teaching in the area of forensic communication and persuasion, he focused his research and publication efforts on the American jury trial and courtroom communication. For many years, he ran his own national consulting company and served as a trial consultant in over 400 jury trials on a wide variety of both criminal and civil cases. Dr. Crawford has conducted seminars and lectured to trial lawyers in thirty states and two foreign countries. When later in his career he joined the prestigious firm of Holland & Hart, he became the first person nationally to serve full time as a trial consultant inside a law firm. He was a founder and past national president of the American Society of Trial Consultants.

Charlotte A. Morris, of Raleigh, holds dual undergraduate degrees in Human Development and Sociology and a Master's degree in Litigation Science, all from the University of Kansas. Charlotte (Charli) Morris has been assisting lawyers in litigation since 1993 and has significant consulting experience in civil and criminal litigation. She has consulted on a wide variety of case types including antitrust, contract, class action, condemnation, employment, environmental, intellectual property, medical malpractice, personal injury, product liability, premises liability, and securities litigation. Charli has also frequently served on the faculty of trial advocacy colleges and has been a featured guest speaker at Inns of Court, bar association conferences, continuing education programs, and other litigation practice seminars. She has been an active member of the American Society of Trial Consultants since 1993 and currently serves on its Board of Directors.
