Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Gr 9-12-- A thorough, accurate survey of the history of pesticide use and what is currently know about its dangers. Lee presents a balanced account of the varying points of view, including the rights of farmers, manufacturers, and those concerned with the environment. Interesting alternatives to chemical management of pests are discussed; black-and-white photos show, among other aspects, some of the people involved in this issue. Zipko's Toxic Threat (Messner, 1990) covers similar territory but is not as comprehensive. This is a first-rate choice for all libraries. --Eva Elisabeth Von Ancken, Trinity Pawling School, NY
