Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Gr 4 Up-- A book full of reasonable advice about the care and feeding of gerbils. Children are cautioned to be gentle with this small animal, to watch but not to touch while babies are being born. One questionable statement is that gerbils should be given fresh water at least every week. Other books and a local pet store suggest that the water be changed every other day in order to keep it fresh. Nonetheless, the book is interesting as well as informative, although the writing is occasionally choppy. The full-color photographs are excellent, clear, and crisp, but most are uncaptioned. A solid addition to pet shelves, along with Seymour Simon's Discovering What Gerbils Do (McGraw-Hill, 1971; o.p.). --Carol Kolb Phillips, The Library, East Brunswick, NJ Junior High Up
