Meet the Author

Although Lorise received a master’s degree in counseling, she writes not from a clinical perspective, but from her heart. On April 27th, 2002, shortly after his twentieth birthday, her beloved cat, Buns, had to be put to sleep, due to kidney failure.

When the time had come for her to make this humane decision, even though she had prior knowledge of his illness, it was agonizing, to say the least. She struggled for months trying to cope with the overwhelming feelings generated by his absence.

In an attempt to bring some meaning to the sorrow she felt, she wrote down her thoughts; she hopes these meditations will help others to better process their own grief surrounding the loss of their pet.
