Overview

In her third book, PET SOUNDS, Quinn Cummings writes about a lifetime of living with and occasionally against domesticated critters. Drawn from her experiences and her popular blog, The QC Report, Quinn introduces us to a housecat who yearns to kill everything smaller than a microwave, a rescue dog with a hopeless (and one-sided) love for skunks, a clump of suicidal foster-kittens, a bloodthirsty rabbit, and a lizard that gets resurrected from the dead. Hard core pet-lovers and the barely pet-tolerant will all enjoy these hilariously droll stories about our quadruped companions: the good, the bad and the flatulent.

This is one of only a very few books that make me laugh out loud. Well written with perfect humor and wonderful stories.

As a long-time reader of the QC Report blog, where some of the stories originally appeared, I knew I was in for a treat with this book, and it exceeded even my high expectations. I read this book as soon as I purchased it, and I couldn't put it down. I finished it in one sitting. Quinn really is a comedic genius. It's a fun, feel-good, and yet deep book about the remarkable relationships the author has had with different animals that she has rescued and loved. Chapters with titles that call upon lyrics of beloved songs adds to the fun. Another thing I loved about the book is that it doesn't shy away from being honest and open about the less-than-glamorous and brutally painful parts of having animal companions, but it finds the humor and joy that makes it all worthwhile at every turn. Ultimately, I found it to be a love story, one about a family's love for one another that reaches out and embraces members of other species with great dedication and adoration as well. It was a fun Sunday well spent with laughter. Thanks for the great read, Quinn.
